Site will be coming down this weekend either Saturday or Sunday. I’m really shocked at how many people are still downloading the shows, and at how much crap I still receive for the whole Brazeal Fedcon thing. Either way, the links will be coming down for a while, but I will be desperately trying to keep the urls the same. If I can’t, then I can’t. I’ve obviously moved on from VC to other things but will have NEW links to the VC recordings and videos on my new main website http://kennedynewmedia.com.

Please shoot me a note there if you want an ep and can’t find it and I’ll get you a link. Otherwise, carry on!

The end, for now

Greetings one and all. I am here to report some very necessary, and unpleasant, news.
Today, August, 12th, 2008 is the 2nd anniversary of the first show ever recorded for Vadercast - The Dark Side of Podcasting. It is oddly poetic that it is exactly two years later that I announce that Vadercast - The Dark Side of Podcasting will immediately cease creating new content and its Spin-off, VaderCast Live! will not be performing anymore.

Personally, I am returning to school and need to focus on finishing my degree as well as my other projects which, in addition to being fun and fulfilling, actually are profitable. Vadercast.com will stay up for as long as I can justify it to be so and eventually it may come back to life in another form. You may see it change form and become something else entirely or this may be the last message you see for a long time. The shows have been mostly a 1-man effort for quite some time and I no longer have the desire to keep it afloat through my efforts alone. Huge thanks go out to Rick for his contributions to the website in addition to my own and Cole and Catherine of APOTAC for supporting our show with co-hosting and prizes and giveaways since the beginning. Big thanks also go out to John, for without whom none of this website would have been possible.

Thank you also to Tamara, Leo, Ben, Ben, and Brian for being a part of our little piece of web-space and the show and everything else. Also, a huge thank you to our guests who’ve been nice enough to let us interview them over the past years. We are very grateful!

To end now allows hope for the future and I very much hope that everyone that has been along for the ride has enjoyed it at least a little bit. Here’s to more adventures!

Open Call for Staff

With Vadercast about to hit 2 years old, we are looking to expand our ranks and bring on some fresh blood in the following areas:

-Editorials

-Entertainment Coverage (TV, Movies, etc)

-Product Reviews

We are looking for people who can commit to creating journalistic entries on Vadercast at least 2-3 times a week on current events in the above categories. You’ll be set up as staff with Vadercast and even get a cool @vadercast.com email address so that all of your adoring fans can write to you. What with Rick’s new geek to look after I expect his time to dedicate to creating awesome content will shrink considerably and thus I definitely need help to keep the content flowing on the site. Please send all inquiries to tim@vadercast.com letting me know what you would like to cover and how often you could commit to submitting info. I’d like to have 3-5 additional staff and will consider adding more if there are that many more submissions. Staffers are also eligible to sub-in on our weekly podcast when regular members are not able to attend so there’s no end to the possibilities!

Welcome to to the newest geek on the block!

Rick and Molly Gutierrez would like to welcome to the world our newest addition to the Vadercast family, Mr. Dengar Ace Gutierrez. ( No, not really.  I blame Cole for that one)  It’s Nathaniel Superfly Gutierrez (Nope, not that either.)  Actually the baby’s name is Oliver Patrick Gutierrez.  Weight, 7 pounds 11 ounces. (7-11!  Slurpee Party on his first birthday!)  Length, 20 inches.  Born at 11:22 A.M. Central Time on this day, Saturday July 19th, 2008.   Both mom and baby are healthy and fine after a grueling near 36 hour delivery with a couple of complications.  And Dad needs a nap.  G’night Folks!

Due to the overwhelming amount of spam comments I have to filter through daily, we are now requiring you to register on the site to comment. I know its a bit of a hassle but it helps us cut down on the crop that I have to sift through to get to the real comments.

I know I’m still on vacation but I couldn’t resist.

Saw Dark Night by the way… One word. Incredible.

VaderCast going on Vacation…

Hello everyone,

Right now I’m jamming out to Coheed and Cambria’s Welcome Home and packing up for two trips I will be taking over the next two weeks. To keep everyone in the loop on what’s going on, I am heading out to the beach (near Galveston, TX) this weekend where my wife and I will be sharing a condo with some friends of ours. Cole and Catherine will be celebrating their anniversary by going on a cruise! Rick is going gray waiting for his little one to drop ;).

I originally planned on being back in production the following week, July 22nd. However, I received a call about a potential job prospect overseas. We are flying out the day I get back from vacation to Switzerland. Just to stop the most obvious question: What does this mean for Vadercast?

It means that there may be a slow time where we do not put out shows for a bit if I get the job. I would hope to keep this as short as possible. It will mean a time-change for recordings and our live shows, but we thanks to the internet we will still be with you, I promise!

Anyways, I will have this week’s ep up on the feed sometime tomorrow. Its already available on Talkshoe.com for those who just can’t wait. Thanks to everyone for their support and I’ll talk to you when I get back from my travels!

Fedcon USA Supplemental: Dirk Bartholomae Weighs In
Posted by Tim on Monday July 07th 2008, 1:37 am

Shortly after our interview with Tim Brazeal, we contacted Fedcon Germany through their website and offered Dirk to say his piece regarding his involvement with Fedcon Germany. We had a conversation with Dirk regarding the few short months that he and Fedcon were involved with the doomed Fedcon USA. He sheds light on many items including the situation with the hotel and why the name was not changed after the split. Very interesting and to the point. Dirk also makes a point to offer anyone who was hurt by Fedcon USA free admission to the REAL Fedcon next year! For details, listen to the show and then email us to be forwarded to Dirk @ podcast@vadercast.com with a subject reading something about Dirk’s offer for Fedcon. Enjoy!

VaderCast Episode 11 - The DO’s of Convention Organizing
Posted by Tim on Thursday July 03rd 2008, 10:20 pm

Our first live show on Talkhoe! With things settling down around Fedcon USA, it was important to us here at Vadercast to do a show about how a convention should be run. We have had the best example of how NOT to run a convention come through DFW, now its time to let the pros speak out. We have Mark Walters from Sci-Fi Expo and Dallas ComiCon, Todd Carlton from All-Con, Russ Miller from Fencon, and our own Cole Houston who, along with Catherine, organizes the APOTAC’s Comic Toy and Collectable Swap Meets. All are local to the DFW area and have multiple successful conventions under their belt. For any and all who are looking into or just want to know some of the behind the scenes info about convention organizing, most definitely check out this episode.
